The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has established a yellow alert for rain and storms for this weekend in Lanzarote. Specifically, the alert will be in effect from 12:00 PM this November 8th until at least midnight.
The probability of a phenomenon of these characteristics occurring on the island is between 40% and 70%. The yellow alert corresponds to low danger. On this occasion, accumulated rainfall is expected to be up to 20 millimeters.
Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will be the only two islands in the archipelago that will be on yellow alert this Sunday. The rest will be on orange alert, which indicates significant danger, due to accumulated rainfall of up to 30 millimeters in one hour in the case of La Palma or up to 100 millimeters in twelve hours in La Palma, La Gomera, or Tenerife.
In Gran Canaria, accumulated rainfall could be 80 millimeters in 12 hours. Added to this situation are the orange alerts for maximum gusts of 90 kilometers per hour in the westernmost islands and Gran Canaria, from which Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and La Graciosa are exempt.
