Nicolle Cifuentes, an 18-year-old resident of Arrecife, has reported suffering an alleged assault by two men upon leaving the nightlife area of La Marina, which has caused her various physical and psychological damages.
The events, as recounted by the woman, occurred during the early morning of Sunday the 16th, around 04:00 in the morning: "That night I had gone out to La Marina and around that time I was waiting for a taxi at the nearest stop, when two men approached in a car. It was noticeable that they were intoxicated, because they almost crashed into another vehicle".
Following this, Cifuentes states that the individuals approached the taxi rank "passing over a puddle and splashing a lady who was there, my companions and me", a fact that caused the woman she mentions to approach the car window and ask the subjects for explanations.
"In response, the two men got out and began to verbally assault her, calling her "ugly" and "old", so I got into the conversation to separate her from the car and try to calm her down".
At that moment, according to the young woman, the insults were directed towards her: "I am of Colombian origin and they started saying things to me like "panchita", "indian" or "ugly piece of shit"".
Injuries and psychological damages
Following this, Cifuentes states "that one of the two men, the younger one, approached her and tried to punch her. When trying to defend herself, he grabbed her hair, throwing her to the ground".
The affected woman has two injury reports that support that, as a result of this event, she has "a broken finger, cuts on her face, seven staples in her head and a contusion on her neck", she explains.
She also declares to present psychological damages: "I have had to leave my house in Arrecife and return to Playa Blanca with my family because I am not well. I am still in pain and I have lost my job because of this situation".
Cifuentes filed a complaint at the National Police Station during the morning following the alleged attack, and reiterates that at no time did she address the alleged aggressors before what happened "because she did not know them at all".
