A second resident of Arrecife, José Carlos Garrido, has joined the protest started by another resident of the capital this Monday morning at the Arrecife City Council. While Gabriela faces an imminent eviction and requests the mediation of the City Council to obtain social housing, José Carlos wants to denounce the "extreme situation" in which he currently finds himself, in a house from which they want to evict him and in which he is currently without electricity or water. According to him, his demand is "that all citizens have decent housing" and that a solution be given to his problem, since he wanted to "negotiate with the bank to make the social rent, but they said it was not appropriate".

José Carlos, who lives with his wife who is pregnant with twins and two other minor children, explained to La Voz that he had a "verbal contract" with the owner of the apartment in which he lives. Later, he assures that he discovered that a bank had become the owner of the house and that an eviction order falls on it. "She was an acquaintance and I trusted her," he stressed, assuring that this problem now affects them because they are the tenants.

"I am in an extreme situation, although, thank God, I stopped the eviction for a month", said the neighbor, who explained that they then went to evict them again and he was able to delay it again. "I had spoken with the Court and they did not see bad faith in me," he maintains.

In addition to this, the house has a debt of "40 euros" of water, which he claims he has tried to face. "I have gone to pay the water to Canal Gestión and they have not let me because I do not have a rental contract," he says, adding that they have "already been registered in that house for ten days." Furthermore, he even threatens to denounce the person who "rented" the apartment to him, because he believes that "he has disengaged" and only asks them to talk to the bank.
