National Police agents have arrested a 43-year-old man in Malaga, who was in an irregular situation in national territory, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of homicide committed against his partner, a 49-year-old woman.
The events would have occurred at his home, located in the Schaman neighborhood of the capital of Gran Canaria, where the victim was found lifeless with obvious signs of violence, the cause of death according to the forensic doctor's report being asphyxiation.
The police agents initiated the investigation, following a complaint filed by a friend of the victim, who was alerted by the victim's daughter who lives in the Peninsula, and who was very worried about not being able to contact her mother as she did daily.
The police investigation focused on her partner, with whom she had been in a relationship for a few months, as the main suspect, who had left the island for Madrid and, later, for Malaga, presumably with the intention of evading justice.
Thanks to the coordination and cooperation between the different units of the National Police, including the Mobile Brigade and agents from Madrid, Malaga and other provinces of Andalusia, a wide search device was established in order to locate and arrest the perpetrator of the events.
The police operation ended on April 8, when agents from the UFAM of Malaga managed to arrest the main suspect at a bus station in said city.
The detainee was going to be transferred today to the island of Gran Canaria, so that once the police proceedings were completed, he could be brought before the competent Judicial Authority, however, this has not been possible due to the inclement weather conditions that are hitting the island, so his transfer to court has been postponed until tomorrow, which will be carried out from the courts of Malaga via telematics.
