Maritime Rescue has rescued a boat intercepted 52 nautical miles east of Arrecife. The events took place this Sunday at around 7.21 am in international waters, according to CECOES.
There were 50 people on board, including 41 men, seven women, one of them pregnant and two minors, of sub-Saharan origin, and all are in apparent good health. After the rescue, the Guardamar is heading to the Arrecife dock and its arrival is estimated at 9.55 am.
In addition, the boat was detected at dawn by the ship 'Argan' at 4.14 am east of Arrecife, according to the Security and Emergency Consortium. It has remained next to the boat until the arrival of Maritime Rescue at 7.16 am, Maritime Rescue sources told EFE.
The notice of the inflatable boat arrived at the Las Palmas Centre at 1.05 am, and being in international waters, Morocco has been asked to assist, Maritime Rescue told the agency.
