The coast of Arrecife has entered this 2020 with cleaner seabeds, free of plastics and polluting waste. Last December 28, the Pastinaca Underwater Activities Club held a new cleaning day in the area between Muelle Chico and Islote de la Fermina, where about 4.5 tons of polluting waste were extracted.
The Councilor for the Environment and Beaches of Arrecife, on behalf of the City Council, has expressed her recognition for this new action to achieve a marine free of plastics and polluting waste, and has congratulated the members of the Apnea Lanzarote Club, the Marlines Canoeing Club, the Island Council's Biosphere Reserve Area, and all the volunteers who participated in this seabed cleaning campaign held on December 28.
Likewise, the councilor has expressed her gratitude and recognition to all the volunteers who collaborated during 2019 in the cleaning tasks of the seabed of the Arrecife coastline. In this regard, the City Council states that it wishes to continue counting on these volunteers and groups in 2020 to develop new environmental awareness initiatives and cleaning campaigns on the seabed of the entire Arrecife coastline.
