The brand Petroprix has started on Tuesday morning the construction of the new low-cost gas station that Arrecife will have with the demolition of the old brothel.

The new gas station will be located on a stretch of León y Castillo street, in the capital neighborhood of Altavista, known as Las Rapaduras. Furthermore, it is the fifth gas station that will be within one kilometer in a straight line.

During Tuesday morning, one of the lanes on the road towards Tinasoria and Tahíche has been closed to traffic for safety due to these demolition works, so the Arrecife City Council asks drivers and pedestrians to proceed with caution.

According to sources from the municipality confirmed to La Voz, the proposal from the low-cost gas station Petroprix, which does not yet have any stations on the island, was approved by urgent procedure in the Governing Board of the capital of Lanzarote in early April.

The Petroprix brand has more than 200 service stations distributed throughout Spain and other gas stations in Portugal, Chile, and Panama. This brand has eleven stations in Gran Canaria, with another in Tenerife and another in Fuerteventura, although it would be the first in Lanzarote.
