The César Manrique-Lanzarote airport was the scene this Sunday, May 31, of a go-around maneuver carried out by a Jet2 airline plane, a moment that was captured by the cameras of Lanzarote Webcam and subsequently shared on its social networks.
According to the aforementioned platform, the incident occurred during the arrival of flight LS11DF from Birmingham. The images show how the aircraft begins the maneuver known in aviation as a go-around or "engine and up," a procedure by which the pilot interrupts the approach and regains altitude instead of completing the landing.
Lanzarote Webcam highlighted that during the maneuver "the tail of the plane almost touched the ground," a circumstance noticeable in the images shared.
The so-called go-around, missed approach, or balked landing is a common aeronautical procedure that is executed when the necessary conditions for a safe landing are not met. In these cases, the crew applies power to the engines and returns to the air to perform a new approach or follow air traffic control instructions.
