The solar eclipse this Wednesday, August 12, has left a multitude of images for collective memory. Different areas of Lanzarote and La Graciosa became the perfect setting to capture this astronomical phenomenon that can rarely be enjoyed.
Amateur photographer Pedro Mesa (@ipedrakos) managed to immortalize this phenomenon with his camera from its beginning to its end in the form of time lapse recorded from the Monument to the Peasant, in San Bartolomé.
In the images, published on his Instagram profile, one can see the evolution of the eclipse from the moment the Moon begins to cover the Sun until it covers 74% of the king of stars.
This solar eclipse gathered thousands of people throughout the island's geography to be able to observe it in company, whether with friends, family, or simply alone. In La Santa, where the Elder Museum of Science and Technology installed a glasses sales point, 4,000 people enjoyed this astronomical event.
