They warn of the "grave danger" of the provisional bus stop at Open Mall

From the Arrecife Bus Safety and Health Committee, they have publicly conveyed their "concern" about the situation that has been occurring at the provisional stop located next to the Open Mall shopping center, in Arrecife.

In this regard, they assure that "the current configuration of this stop, combined with the repeated occupation of the space intended for public transport by taxi service vehicles, some of them even parking in double and triple rows, is generating a serious road safety problem." This situation prevents buses from approaching the curb correctly, hindering passenger access and descent and considerably increasing the risk of pedestrian accidents, collisions, and incidents that can affect both public transport users and other pedestrians and transport professionals themselves.

From this Committee, they point out that they have tried to hold a meeting with the mayor of the Arrecife City Council, Yonathan de León, to convey this concern, "without it being possible to date." Similarly, they have presented this problem to the councilor responsible for Security and Emergencies, "without, for the moment, effective measures having been adopted to correct this situation."

Therefore, they make a public appeal to the Arrecife City Council to "act immediately, exercising its powers in traffic management, road safety, and protection of public transport users, adopting whatever measures are necessary to eliminate the existing risk."

Likewise, from the Safety and Health Committee, they warn of the existence of an objective risk to people's safety and request urgent action from the competent administration.

"The safety of citizens, public transport users, and workers must always be placed above any other consideration. Acting before a tragedy occurs is not only a moral obligation but also an inherent responsibility of those who hold public powers," they defend.
