The European Space Agency (ESA) is investigating the incident that occurred on September 29th when a plane entered the runway while another was landing at Lanzarote Airport. This was reported by Controladores Aéreos on their X profile.

Lanzarotewebcam captured the moment when an Iberia Express plane entered the runway while a Ryanair flight from Dublin was landing. The incident took place when Ryanair flight FR5910, from Dublin, was preparing to land on runway 03 at the Lanzarote airport. Before the plane had completely left the runway, an Iberia Express flight, IB1502 bound for Madrid, accessed the runway using exit E1 of runway 03.

Despite this, the Ryanair plane was able to brake in time and continue its journey along the runway until it exited via exit E2.

Furthermore, this incident also frustrated the next approaching traffic, as it could not land with another plane on the runway.

Now, the ESA is immersed in an investigation to clarify the causes that led to this dangerous situation occurring.

According to Controladores Aéreos, Lanzarote airport has "complex operations with controllers with deficient working conditions and human resource allocation". Likewise, these workers have their right to strike "totally restricted".
