UNED Lanzarote has made a donation of school supplies intended for the population of the Sahrawi refugee camps located in Tindouf. The initiative has the collaboration of the association La vida es Zuaina, an entity that will be responsible for transporting a batch composed of 40 tables, 40 desks with a paddle, five marker boards, and two monitors to Algeria.

The furniture donated had already been fully amortized within the academic institution and has been replaced by new school furniture acquired after the granting of a grant from the Island Council.

This aid is part of the project “Improvement of equipment and technological adaptation of the UNED associated center of Lanzarote-parador de turismo”, integrated into the Lanzarote Destination Sustainability Plan, from the extraordinary call of 2023 and integrated into the territorial plan of the Canary Islands. Likewise, the investment is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed by the European funds Next Generation EU.

It is estimated that the material will arrive in Algeria in September and can be available for use in the secondary training centers of Rabuni.
