The third edition of Meetings FesTVal Lanzarote celebrated its second day this Friday with a program marked by conversation, television memory, sports, fiction, and humor, consolidating Arrecife as a meeting point between audiovisual and cultural professionals and the public.

The day began at El Almacén with the conversation ‘The seventh art on the small screen’, starring Lanzaroteño journalist José Fernández, a reference of Televisión Española and one of the most recognizable faces of film information in our country. In dialogue with the director of FesTVal, Joseba Fiestras, Fernández shared with the public his experience covering national and international cinema news, as well as some of the main film festivals in the world.

During the meeting, the journalist reviewed his professional career, marked by interviews with great actors, actresses, directors, and figures from the audiovisual industry, and brought to the public numerous anecdotes experienced over years of news coverage. The conversation allowed for a glimpse into the perspective of someone who has been a privileged witness to the evolution of cinema and its presence on television, establishing a bridge between the big screen, international festivals, and the small screen as a space for cultural dissemination.

El Almacén once again hosted another of the activities planned for this second day, this time dedicated to the world of sports. Under the theme of sports that find their best showcase on television, a round table was held with Almudena Cid, former Olympic gymnast and commentator for Radiotelevisión Española; Willy Rodríguez, a face from Terrero and Gloria on Radiotelevisión Canaria and a great disseminator of Canarian wrestling; and José Antonio Mielgo, an undisputed reference for tennis on Movistar Plus+.

Beyond football and the major media spotlights, the meeting highlighted that there are disciplines capable of exciting, generating identity, and building loyal spectator communities. The table addressed how less mediatic sports are told on television, what challenges broadcasts face, how stories that connect with the public are constructed, and how the small screen has contributed to the growth of disciplines with their own personality.

The conversation allowed the public to glimpse what happens behind those broadcasts: the prior preparation, the importance of the narrative, the emotion of live broadcasting, technical knowledge, and the ability to turn a sports competition into a shared story. Pure passion, narrative, and emotion to assert that there is also space, audience, and great stories beyond football.

In the afternoon, the Atlántida Cinemas hosted the special screening of an episode from the third season of ‘El Inmortal’, one of the most recognized and acclaimed Spanish productions in recent years. The series, produced by Movistar Plus+, will also be honored at the closing gala of Meetings FesTVal Lanzarote along with its producer, José Manuel Lorenzo.

After the screening, the audience was able to attend an exclusive talk where Lorenzo, along with part of the series' cast, shared some of the keys to the success of a production that has managed to build its own intense and visually stunning universe. The meeting allowed for a deeper dive into the creative process, the challenges of bringing a story inspired by real events to the screen, the evolution of Spanish fiction, and everything that happens behind one of the most ambitious series on recent television.

The second day concluded at El Puerto Restaurant with a performance by actor and comedian Gorka Aguinagalde, who arrived in Lanzarote with a monologue full of direct humor, improvisation, and his unique ability to turn everyday situations into collective delirium. Known for his work in television and film, Aguinagalde offered an intimate, sharp performance full of complicity with the audience.

The program continues this Saturday at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife

Meetings FesTVal Lanzarote continues this Saturday with a new event in the official program. At 12:00 PM, the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife will host Los Desayunos de la Academia de TV (The Academy of TV's Breakfasts), under the title ‘Concursos, the eternal game of television’.

Moderated by presenter Jota Abril, the meeting will analyze the keys to one of the most solid, versatile, and recognizable genres on the small screen. Game shows have been part of television history for decades and, far from being exhausted, have managed to reinvent themselves generation after generation, adapting formats, creating new codes, discovering presenters, and connecting with audiences of all ages.

The round table will allow reflection on the evolution of contests in Spain, the rise of large formats, the role of casting, the tension of live broadcasts, the importance of presenters, and the genre's ability to continue conquering audiences in a constantly transforming audiovisual ecosystem. Because platforms and consumption habits change, but the contest continues to be one of television's great passions.
