The San Román cemetery will remain closed on August 28 and September 18 for fumigation work. The Department of Health of the Arrecife City Council informs citizens that the fumigation of the San Román cemetery will proceed on two new dates, due to the persistent problem of cockroach infestation, which has been aggravated by the recent high temperatures.

The next interventions will take place on August 27 and September 17, 2024. During those days, the cemetery's hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as the fumigation will take place from 5:00 p.m. As a preventive measure, the cemetery will remain closed to the public throughout the following day, that is, on August 28 and September 18, 2024.

For its part, on August 29 and September 19, 2024, the cemetery will open its doors from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This fumigation process is part of a series of three interventions scheduled within a period of 21 days to effectively mitigate the problem. In addition, the Department of Health, as Jacobo Lemes explains, is evaluating other alternative measures to guarantee a long-term solution.

“We regret the inconvenience that these actions may cause to those who visit the cemetery. We are working to resolve this problem as quickly and effectively as possible. We appreciate the understanding and patience of all citizens during this period,” the mayor said.
