The Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, a center affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has obtained a global score of 8.85 out of 10 in the Hospital Discharge Satisfaction Survey (ESAH) corresponding to 2025, a rating that consolidates the good results achieved in previous years.
The survey, conducted on a sample of 405 patients, aims to understand users' perception of the care received, among other aspects, during their hospital stay and is one of the main indicators of perceived quality of the healthcare system.
Of the participants, 57% were women and 43% were men. In addition, the majority are in the age group of 50-69 years. It is also highlighted that 66.9% were admitted through the Emergency Department and 61.8% of patients had a stay of less than 5 days. Of the total surveys conducted, sixteen were in English and four in German and one in French.
Among the best-rated hospitalization wards are the Short Stay Unit of Psychiatry with 9.63, that of Traumatology, with a score of 9.39, the Oncohematology ward, with 9.35, and the Medical-Surgical ward, rated 9 by patients.
Regarding services, Psychiatry obtains the highest rating, 9.65, followed by Traumatology with 9.33, Oncology which obtains 9.31, and Neurology rated 9.2.
Excellent rating of treatment and professional care
The results reflect the high degree of patient satisfaction with the care received from the hospital's professionals. 98% of users rate the medical care as good or very good, while the same percentage positively values the care provided by the Nursing staff.
Likewise, 97.9% of patients highlight the treatment received from the orderlies and 97% favorably rate the attention from administrative staff.
One of the best-rated aspects is again the respect for patients' privacy during their stay. 99.8% of the people surveyed consider that their privacy was respected at all times, even improving the results obtained in previous years. In addition, 96.8% state that the healthcare staff addressed them by their name.
Patient information and accompaniment
Clinical information continues to be one of the aspects most valued by users. 95.2% consider that they received clear information about the evolution of their illness and the tests performed, while 97.7% assure that they were informed and gave their consent before undergoing tests or interventions.
On the other hand, 95.6% of patients state that they received adequate information about the care and treatment they should follow after hospital discharge.
The visiting hours also receive a very positive rating, with 97.2% satisfaction among users.
Good results in Obstetrics and Pediatrics
97.2% of women attended in the delivery room rated the care received during childbirth as good or very good. Likewise, 97.1% received information about newborn care and nearly 90% about the benefits of breastfeeding.
In Pediatrics, 100% of the families surveyed expressed their satisfaction with the time they could spend with their children during their stay.
