A video has spread like wildfire through groups and social media conversations over the weekend in Lanzarote. In the footage, a hooded man can be seen walking down a street with a large knife. He then stops in front of the door of a coastal dwelling and stabs the house door fourteen times.
The viralized images were recorded from a moving car. The person recording begins to do so seconds before the video's protagonist stops in front of the dwelling with a knife and damages the door. After the episode, the video's protagonist opens the door of the vehicle from which the scene is being recorded, and the footage ends.
The location allows the place of the events to be recognized. The video was recorded on Las Salinas street, in the coastal town of Punta Mujeres, in the northern municipality of Haría.
Following the stir caused by the images this weekend, municipal sources have informed *La Voz* that the events captured in the video did not occur this past weekend, but were recorded at least a week ago.
These same sources reveal that the events were reported to the Haría Civil Guard, responsible for investigating these types of crimes, which is carrying out the relevant investigation to clarify the facts. Sources from the armed institute have confirmed to this outlet that they are trying to identify the perpetrator. Meanwhile, until this past Saturday, the Haría Local Police had no knowledge of what had happened.
For the moment, the causes that motivated the protagonist of the images to vandalize the dwelling's door are unknown.
