April was the second warmest month since 1961 in the Canary Islands. According to the Climatological Advance offered by the State Meteorological Agency, the Archipelago suffered a climatic anomaly of two degrees throughout the month.

An episode of these characteristics had not been experienced since 2008, according to data published by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

In addition, there was also 23% less rainfall than expected for the month of April. In this way, it was classified as the ninth driest period since 1961, according to Aemet.

The anomaly in the average temperature was more noticeable in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, being the warmest since 1961 and the second in the province of Las Palmas, where it was classified as "very warm" in both its minimum, maximum and average temperatures.

By islands, the station located at Lanzarote Airport at 14 meters altitude recorded its maximum temperature with 31 degrees last March 29.
