The Canary Islands Sea is heating up like never before

The Canary Islands Sea is experiencing unprecedented warming. An abrupt and intense increase in temperatures has been affecting the oceans around the planet since March.

Thus, since this month of August, maximum temperatures of up to 24 degrees have already been recorded, which is one and a half degrees more than it should be for this time of year.

According to data provided by the Canary Islands Deep Radial (Raprocan) program of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO), the temperature surface on August 8 in the Canary Islands oceans was 24.32 degrees Celsius, which represents an anomaly of 1.56 degrees compared to the average and 0.75 degrees more than the standard deviation.
