The Canary Islands Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment imposed more than 200 sanctions in Lanzarote during 2024

It registered 26 infractions for non-compliance with the Canary Islands Coasts Law, followed by five for discharges into the sea

The Canary Islands Agency for the Protection of the Natural Environment (ACPMN) has imposed a total of 204 sanctions throughout 2024 in Lanzarote.

Of these, the majority are for construction reasons, reaching 96 infractions; followed by non-construction, with 38 sanctions. Both offenses are framed within legislative decree 1/2000, which includes the Laws of Territorial Planning of the Canary Islands and Natural Spaces.

Thirdly, the most common sanctions are for waste, including hazardous waste or used oils, with a total of 34 infractions. After that, there are breaches of the Coasts Law, with 26 sanctions.

Throughout the past year, the ACPMN imposed five offenses for discharges into the sea: two for extraction of aggregates; two for potentially polluting activities to the atmosphere; and finally, one infraction to zoological parks.
