The Cabildo of Lanzarote announces the completion of the works of the 16 storage rooms built in Puerto Naos, which will be delivered to the Fishermen's Association of San Ginés.

The vice president and head of island Public Works, Jacobo Medina, and the Minister of Fisheries, Samuel Martín, visited this new facility together with the president of the Fishermen's Association of San Ginés, Aquilino Arrocha.

“We were clear, from the Ministry of Public Works, that this facility was more than necessary for fishing professionals in the capital, since they lacked a decent storage space for day to day”, said the vice president, who valued the work done from the area “to accelerate this construction as much as possible”.

The Minister of Fisheries, for his part, said that in this way “justice has been done with the fishermen of Arrecife”. “They have been carrying out their work outdoors for years and demanding the construction of a minimum storage space, in addition to the ice room so necessary for the conservation of fish”, he added.

In this sense, the construction of these warehouses is justified by the need for the fishermen of the port to have a warehouse for their work tools and maintenance of the captured fish, while the shape of the construction had the objective of generating the least impact on the surface of the esplanade, also due to its proximity to the dock and the orientation that favors the windward side.

The new building, carried out by the company Transportes y Excavaciones Tiagua, SL, had an investment of 278,062.99 euros financed 80% through the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN).
