A new variant of COVID-19, known as Stratus, has begun to spread rapidly through several countries and has been included by the World Health Organization (WHO) on its list of variants, according to Antena 3 Noticias.

In fact, cases have quadrupled in just under a month in the United Kingdom, going from an initial 10% to 40% of its contagion rate. However, the WHO assures that its overall risk is low, although this strain has a greater growth advantage compared to other variants.

The symptoms of this variant are hoarseness and a rough or scratchy voice, but they are no more severe than those that other previous strains can cause. The WHO recommends that those people who have a positive diagnosis stay at home and isolate themselves to avoid infecting other people.
