The passage of storm Therese is leaving impactful images in different parts of the archipelago due to the heavy rains and abundant electrical activity on islands like Gran Canaria and Tenerife. This bad weather is compounded by poor visibility at airports such as Los Rodeos, in Tenerife, which has caused cancellations and diversions to Tenerife South

The few planes that managed to land this Tuesday at Tenerife North did so thanks to the skill of the pilots, as can be seen in a video published by one of them. Yelco León, commander and instructor of ATR-72 (propeller planes like Binter's), has shown on his Instagram profile how the landing was at the Tenerife airport with a thick fog that barely prevented seeing the runway.

"I had never landed like this," begins the pilot commenting on the post. "One of the most complicated landings of my career as a pilot," he continued.

On its X account, Air Traffic Controllers reported on Tuesday night poor visibility at Tenerife North Airport and the presence of storm cells in its vicinity. Due to this, a dozen planes were diverted to Tenerife South.

The storm Therese has caused various incidents on the islands, especially in Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The latter was on Tuesday night on red alert for rainfall, which has left records of up to 60 liters per square meter in a single hour in places like Tacoronte, where several residents of buildings have had to be evacuated and where homes, businesses and streets have been flooded.
