The Volunteer Firefighters of Lanzarote (Boluntis) rescued this Thursday a spotted dolphin (Stenella frontalis) that died on Las Malvas beach in Tinajo, as reported by the emergency personnel through their Instagram account.

Alerted by the Society for the Study of Cetaceans Archipelago Canario (SECAC), the Boluntis approached the area to collect the body of a spotted dolphin, a cetacean species that inhabits the Gulf Stream of the North Atlantic Ocean and is known for the unique spots that cover its entire body.

The firefighters were guarding the cetacean until the arrival of the biologist, who proceeded to perform a primary study in the area. Immediately afterwards, the animal was transferred in an adapted trailer to a species research center in Tías, the Anthroposophical Center.
