Residents of Costa Teguise complain about having gone to Los Charcos beach in recent weeks and finding the parking lot in this area completely closed and without the possibility of accessing this beach in the tourist town.
This parking lot has been closed for three weeks, specifically since November 19. "I went to take a walk with my elderly parents and everything is blocked. We go there because the parking lot is public and it is an easily accessible area for them, but in the end we had to leave without visiting the beach," complains one of the residents.
"Finding parking on the road is complicated and also it is too far for them to walk to the beach," says the woman. "My father told me: At least they could leave some access to unload the elderly and their beach chairs!" she says.
Another user complains, stating that "it is a real shame that the Teguise City Council closes the parking lot for so many weeks so that a sporting event that only lasts four days can take place." These complaints also affect athletes who come to this beach to practice kitesurfing and windsurfing.
For his part, Alejandro Ramírez, Councilor for Sports of Teguise, responded to this issue on Monday's program of Buenos Días, Lanzarote on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, where he stated that "it is true that the residents are angry with good reason, but we are talking about a test of character and the mayor has tried to find a solution in this parking lot that was partially limited, although now it is true that it will be completely limited."
"I just want to convey to them to have understanding because, in addition, we do not have the same resources that Ironman may have, for example," he concluded.
