Registered a new earthquake east of Lanzarote

The earthquake, of 2.8 on the Richter scale, took place at a depth of twenty kilometers

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) once again registered a new earthquake of 2.8 on the Richter scale off the east coast of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, as reported by the organization on its website.

The tremor occurred this past Sunday at 07:51 Canarian time at a depth of twenty kilometers. Thus, it occurred at a latitude of 28.6390 and a longitude of -14.3507.

Furthermore, according to the IGN, it was felt by the population in the towns of Valle de Santa Inés in the municipality of Betancuria and in Agua de Bueyes, in Antigua. Both towns on the island of Fuerteventura.

In this area of the archipelago, these earthquakes are common. In recent months, several tremors have been registered. The last one occurred on June 1, measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale.

According to the Macroseismic Intensity Scale (EMS), in most of the archipelago, intensities have ranged between II and III, placing them among the least intense on the list, which can go up to number ten.
