Pride and Canarian identity. These two words can perfectly define the latest musical release by the Canarian artist Quevedo, Ni borracho, where Lanzarote and La Graciosa are also present.
The singer's new song talks about the pride he feels for the Canary Islands and their uniqueness, emphasizing that no other place can compare to live in.
Throughout the song, which is just over four minutes long, Quevedo names different towns in the archipelago and the eighth island: "Agaete, Los Llanos, Corralejo, Teguise, Valverde, Vallehermoso, Tacoronte, La Graciosa, Agüimes, Candelaria, Hermigua, Tazacorte, Frontera, Cotillo, Arrecife For everyone!".
Likewise, at a certain moment in the music video, Kike Pérez appears, the comedian from Lanzarote.
In the chorus, the artist expresses that, despite traveling, his place is still in the Canary Islands:
I've already been all over Spain
and I'm not moving even if I'm drunk
I went on a trip to Paris and I'm not moving even if I'm drunk
I was in Miami in the summer
and I wouldn't move even if I were drunk
I have already traveled the world
and I wouldn't move even if I were drunk
Furthermore, the music video accompanying the song reflects this Canarian identity. The festivals, a battleground, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or a Canarian supermarket are some of the settings the music video focuses on. It also shows products from the islands such as rum or traditional festivals like La Rama.
The use of Canarianisms and Canarian expressions is also one of the elements that Quevedo uses throughout the song, such as "se me fue el baifo," "guagua," "magua," or "no te alongues que te enriscas."
