Posing on social media: What would you be willing to do for a photo?

The images that people often want to publish on these platforms lead to endangering their own physical integrity and that of the natural environment where they are located.

Social networks have become a way of bringing people's lives to other people, which sometimes translates into taking certain photographs in inappropriate places or in a way that is disrespectful to the environment.

This is the case of the woman who published an image on her Facebook profile where she can be seen in a bikini on one of the many devil monuments of Timanfaya that are scattered throughout the Natural Park. In addition, she is seen hugging him. This type of photos published on social networks causes other users to reproduce these same situations, which, on top of that, are carried out in protected spaces like this one.

Another of the photos that are usually seen on social networks of tourists who visit the island is that of the volcanic bomb of Montaña Colorada. Many of them climb on this huge rock that was formed when it was expelled by the volcano and rolled down the hillside until it solidified. Wanting to have a spectacular photo leads some to climb, which also damages the flora that inhabits this rock, such as lichens.

In relation to the Fire Mountains, there have also been more incidents related to tourists who want to take a photograph as a souvenir from places that are not allowed. This is the case of the visitors who left the path in the National Park and in the queue to enter the beginning of the bus tour abandoned the signposted route and climbed a volcano where it was forbidden to climb.

The madness for a photo also extends to rental vehicles, where a group of three girls had half their body out of the car while driving on a road in Lanzarote. And the tourists were taking photos while the car was moving.

The need to want a good photo also causes accidents that can be very expensive. This is the case of the increase in falls in the area known as Las Grietas where tourists go to immortalize an image. In recent years there has been a boom in injuries with fractures, sprains and falls.
