Playa Blanca is organizing a tribute to the figure and 40-year career of coach Tomás Quesada Machín at the head of the southern Wrestling School. The municipal event, scheduled for 7:00 p.m., offers a wrestling match with two combined teams of athletes from Lanzarote and the screening of an audiovisual about the life and work of the honoree.

In the same natural setting where the best wrestlers in the municipality have been trained, the small beach of Playa Blanca, where hundreds of boys and girls from the youth academy of the sport of Canarian wrestling continue to train, the town gathers this Friday, July 19 to honor his career.

On behalf of the Yaiza City Council, the mayor, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, invite the family of Canarian wrestling from Lanzarote and the people of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands to support Tomás Quesada in this ceremony prepared "with all the affection and admiration for a person who is very loved by children, boys and girls, and young athletes, as well as their families," and of course, the local Administration of Yaiza, which has the support of the Cabildo of Lanzarote through the Department of Sports coordinated by Juan Monzón, for this evening.

Tomás Quesada wrestled in his youth with La Villa de Teguise and Torrelavega, and, among other honors for the recognition of his work, he has received the Vinculación y Apoyo a la Lucha Canaria award from the National Federation of Canarian Wrestling.

The tribute in Playa Blanca has a special emotional ingredient because it is part of the Fiestas de la Virgen de Carmen, the patron saint of the town, where Tomás resides and enthusiastically carries out his work of teaching, training wrestlers and promoting the noble values of Canarian wrestling with no other intention than to help the personal development of boys and girls, which he has been doing with love all his life.
