A beekeeper removed last February 22 a beehive from a home after a citizen's warning, according to what the Department of Environment of the Cabildo de Lanzarote has published on the social network X.
After receiving a call from the tenant of the house, the Emergency Consortium was alerted and the corresponding protocol was activated for this case.
Finally, a beekeeper came to the place to remove the honeycomb and the swarm of bees.
In case of finding a beehive, the first thing to do is remain calm and not try to handle, move or spray insecticide on the swarm, since besides bees being necessary for nature, these could cause stings.
Furthermore, it is necessary to pay attention to whether it is a beehive or wasp nest. Bees have a more rounded and hairy body, while wasps are much more dangerous and have an elongated and smooth physiognomy.
The next step is to notify those people who are nearby so that they take precautions and, finally, to alert emergency services so that an expert can remove it safely.
