This weekend, on the occasion of the traditional Romería de los Dolores, the Cabildo de Lanzarote has planned almost a dozen traffic modifications. In this way, the island corporation guarantees the correct development of the popular pilgrimage that, as every year, is expected to mobilize several thousands of pedestrians. These are the planned modifications for the 14th and 15th of September:
On the LZ-20, it will be possible to circulate only in the direction of Tinajo from 00:00 to 22:00 on Saturday, September 14.
On the other hand, the LZ-30, from its intersection with the LZ-20 to C/Las Calderetas, will be closed to traffic from 8:00 to 22:00 on Saturday, September 14. While from Las Calderetas to La Florida it will only remain closed from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on that same day.
For its part, the LZ-67 will remain closed to traffic from 15:00 to 23:00 on Saturday, September 14.
The LZ-56 and the LZ-409 will remain closed to traffic from 8:00 on Saturday the 14th to 6:00 a.m. on Sunday the 15th of September.
The LZ-46, however, will have restricted vehicle passage from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday the 14th to 06:00 a.m. on Sunday the 15th of September.
Finally, the LZ-58 and the LZ-409 will remain closed to traffic from 6:00 to 00:00 on Sunday, September 16, as it will remain closed for the Sunday concert.
For his part, Francisco Aparicio, head of the Emergency Consortium, has stressed the importance of the modifications to guarantee road safety: "The adjustments are essential to guarantee the safety of the thousands of people who participate in the pilgrimage. We recommend citizens plan their trips in advance and pay attention to the signage and restriction schedules."
The Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, has highlighted the commitment of the island corporation to the safety and good organization of the event: "The Romería de los Dolores is one of the most important events on our island, and from the Cabildo we have worked to ensure that it takes place with total normality. With these modifications we guarantee the safety of the pilgrims and the good functioning of the celebration."
