The entity Lanzarote with Palestine has called a gathering to honor the journalists murdered in Gaza in the performance of their mission of public denunciation of the genocide. The citizen group believes that crimes and violations and coercion of freedom of expression deserve to focus on this group.
The action will consist of reading, by communication professionals from the island, the names of the reporters who have lost their lives, since October 7, 2023, during the coverage of the war in the Strip. In addition, several manifestos will be shared on this matter.
The reading will take place over approximately one hour, on Saturday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m., in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park, next to the pirulí and journalists, graphic artists, cameramen, digital content creators, etc. are invited to the reading; and to the attendance, to anyone who defends a just and lasting peace and an autonomous and free state for the Palestinian people.
According to the organization, “journalists in Palestine do militant work. They know clearly that they are military targets of the Israeli occupation forces. Journalists in Gaza shout to the world: Palestine is being exterminated by the Zionist state.”
