The Urban Music Festival Urban Summer Fest became this Sunday the core of Hip Hop culture within the Fiestas de San Ginés. The third edition of the event, organized by the Department of Youth of the Arrecife City Council, directed by Rosmen Quevedo, brought together a multitude of young people who enjoyed an afternoon full of local talent.
The festival, which kicked off at 6:00 p.m., offered a varied program that included exciting freestyle battles, live performances and an outstanding “rooster battles” competition. Among the most anticipated moments, the first written battle between two of the most prominent references of the urban scene in the Canary Islands stood out: Zurita and El Pelusa, who offered a duel of verses that captivated the public.
In the rooster battles competition, the title of champion went to Gary Pérez Rodríguez, artistically known as RDC, who demonstrated his skill and creativity on stage. Second place went to Himar Lemes Arrocha, alias Lemes, while Marco Milán López, or MC Karpa, took third place. Each of them showed an impressive level of ingenuity and skill, contributing to the success of the event.
The Urban Summer Fest also presented a series of performances by local artists who shone brightly. R. Kysha, Kidd Caxopo, Loher, Akibel, Nase & K-mel, Calidah and Merino & Cabrera offered energetic and memorable performances, further consolidating the festival as an important showcase for local talent in the urban genre.
Rosmen Quevedo, Councilor for Youth of the Arrecife City Council, expressed his satisfaction with the realization of the event, noting that “the Urban Summer Fest is a crucial platform for our young artists and for the promotion of Hip Hop culture on our island. Public participation has been exceptional, and we are committed to continuing to support and promote these spaces of expression.”
