Masks could cease to be mandatory in pharmacies, health centers and residences

From this Wednesday, July 5, masks are no longer mandatory in health, social health and pharmacy centers, where their use was still maintained, after the Official State Gazette (BOE) published the agreement of the Council of Ministers that declares the end of the health crisis due to covid-19, which comes into force.

However, although the obligation ceases, the agreement appeals to the "culture of responsibility" and recommends the use of masks for people who work in intensive care units and units for vulnerable patients, and in hospital or primary care emergencies, including the waiting room.

Its use is also advised for symptomatic people when they are in shared spaces and for the professionals who care for them, and in nursing homes and people with disabilities, environments in which the most vulnerable people live, although the agreement insists that "its universal use is not recommended."

According to the text approved yesterday in the Council of Ministers, in the case of residences and centers for people with disabilities, it is recommended to take additional precautions in case of the appearance of symptoms in workers, residents or visitors, to avoid outbreaks and taking care of the physical and emotional well-being of the elderly.
