From Secret Lanzarote's hand, the second edition of Eco-Action Week is celebrated in Puerto Calero, framed in the celebration of World Environment Day and World Oceans Day.
From June 5 to June 11, a series of events, both online and offline, have been scheduled to promote sustainability and care for the environment, as well as to publicize the natural wealth of Lanzarote.
The activities began on June 5, where World Environment Day was commemorated with a collective exhibition of specialists in underwater photography. "The ecological value of Lanzarote's marine environment" will present the particular vision of the natural heritage of these photographers.
The highlight will be presented on June 10, with different activities for the whole family in the Plaza de Las Carpas in Puerto Calero: at 9:00 a.m. it will begin with the Cleaning of the Puerto Calero coastline. And also, there will be a raffle of prizes among all the participants such as catamaran sailing trips, scuba diving excursion or passes for the spa.
At 10.30 hours, a meeting will be held with the pet shelter of the Yaiza City Council. Under the motto: "Come and meet the dogs that are looking for a new home and the work of Doggies del Sur". Then at 11.00 hours, you can enjoy children's workshops with incredible creative and sustainable activities.
The talk on "Whales and dolphins in Lanzarote: How to learn about them and how to ensure their future", organized by the company WeWhale, specialized in whale and dolphin watching, will begin at 11.30 hours and will feature the presence of: Gonzalo Apesteguia, Captain – WeWhale Lanzarote and Vahitiare Quintero Romero - Marine Biologist at the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote.
To end the day, at 12.00 hours a gastronomic contest will be held. The chefs of the restaurants "Amura", "Pelícano", "Coentro", "Minato" and "La Taberna del Puerto" will show their most sustainable proposal.
To finish the program, the week will be completed with activities on the social networks of Puerto Calero such as: the photography contest, the gastronomic judge contest and the action "7 days 7 eco-challenges", where the community will be proposed to collaborate with sustainable actions within daily life.
