The town of Órzola is preparing to celebrate its traditional Fiestas de Santa Rosa de Lima with a wide program that will take place from August 17 to 23, organized by the Haría City Council together with the Peña Hendida Cultural Leisure Association of the town.
The mayor, Alfredo Villalba, highlights that the Santa Rosa de Lima festivals “are one of those events that reflect the identity and character of our towns. That is why we encourage all citizens to come to Órzola to participate in the activities and enjoy these days”.
For his part, the Councilor for Celebrations, Alberto de León, values “the work and involvement of all the people who collaborate to make these festivities possible with a varied program and with proposals for all ages”.
Program of the Santa Rosa de Lima 2026 festivals
On Monday, August 17, the festivities will begin at 09:00 with the adornment of the town and, at 11:00, the Drawing and Mural Creation Contest will be held for all audiences at the Caletón Blanco Sociocultural Center, where traditional games will take place an hour later.
At 17:00 the Truco and Envite Championship will begin. It will continue at 20:00 with a parade enlivened by the batucada Los Yaiseros, followed, at 21:30, by the opening speech by the town's youth. The night will conclude with a raid enlivened by Swing del Norte, starting at 22:30.
On Tuesday, August 18, the program will continue at 11:00 with a rosette workshop led by Estefanía. At 18:00 the Ronda and Chinchón Tournament will be held and, at 21:00, the young people of Órzola will star in the playback.
On Wednesday, August 19, the program will begin at 10:00 with a flag workshop for Santa Rosa. At 12:00, La Cantería beach will host different sports activities, with differentiated categories for those under and over 14 years of age. In the afternoon, at 18:30, the Tortilla Contest will be held and, at 21:00, the Lanzarote Baila Dance School will offer a performance at the Sociocultural Center.
On Thursday, August 20, the children's party will be held in El Lajiar, while in the afternoon, at 6:00 PM, Santiaguito and Carmelo will offer a demonstration of gofio making. At 7:00 PM, Pueblo Maho and Jurria Temeje will star in an exhibition of Juego del Palo, Salto del Pastor or Silbo. At 8:30 PM, the popular roast will take place with the burning of Quevedo and, from 9:30 PM, the Fiesta Canaria will be held, for which it is recommended to attend dressed in traditional costume, enlivened by the groups Son del Norte and El Golpito.
On Friday, August 21, it will start at 11:00 AM with the Foosball Championship and, half an hour later, there will be bouncy castles, games and crafts at the Sociocultural Center. At 5:30 PM, the Bola Championship will be played, while at 6:00 PM, the Surprise Bingo will be held. At 8:00 PM, Vicky Dos Santos will offer a storytelling session and the day will conclude with the popular festival, starting at 11:00 PM, enlivened by the orchestras Los Conejeros and Lanzarote Swing.
On Saturday, August 22, at 10:30 AM, there will be a percussion workshop led by Karina. At 11:30 AM, the Table Tennis Tournament, organized by Club Temelan, will take place, while from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a market of products from the artisans of the north of the island will be held. At 5:00 PM, the Baking Contest will take place and, at night, at 8:30 PM, the Petiso Festival will arrive, with performances by Kinight Lizards, Bourbon and Graduado Escolar. The musical program will continue at 2:00 AM with a set by D'J Osa.
Finally, on Sunday, August 23, at 10:00 AM, a coastal cleanup will be carried out by Papa Cría and WWF. At 12:30 PM, El Lajiar will host the zumba masterclass and, at 2:00 PM, the water festival enlivened by Los Conejeros will begin.
The religious services in honor of Santa Rosa de Lima will take place at 7:00 PM, with the celebration of Holy Mass and the subsequent procession and offering at the Sociocultural Center. The festivities will conclude with a surprise raffle and a performance by Vocal Force, which will take place from 9:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
