Canal Gestión announces that the water supply has been restored after the massive cut on the island

The energy incident that affected the supply service caused more than 33,000 m³ to stop being pumped from the Desalination Plant to the main storage tanks

Canal Gestión Lanzarote and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote have reported this Friday morning that the potable water supply service "is practically restored" after about thirty areas and towns of Lanzarote have been affected with the interruption of their supplies since Wednesday night.

Both companies have highlighted that Endesa "suspended the energy supply to the desalination plants of Díaz Rijo to address improvement works in its system this past Thursday" and has caused "the logical and normal paralysis of the potable water production activity and, most importantly, the "impossibility of pumping the supply from the Central to the main storage tanks."

It should be remembered that Endesa insisted in a statement issued this Thursday that the cut only occurred for six and a half hours. This forced Canal Gestión Lanzarote and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote to "develop a maneuver plan, which began to be executed from Wednesday afternoon, which sought to minimize the impact that the aforementioned energy cut would cause on service users, especially trying to ensure that rural areas such as the municipalities of Haría and Tinajo could have the supply that is almost daily affected by other types of interruptions."

In the end, and slightly exceeding the forecasts that were being considered, "more than 33,000 cubic meters of potable water were not distributed during this Thursday, in the temporary section of 12 hours", they have highlighted. This is the schedule in which the entire production and distribution system was stopped.

From Thursday afternoon, all the nuclei that suffered cuts began to open gradually, counting that all of them would need "a couple of hours more" to start receiving the supply normally, both as the pipes were loaded and the appropriate pressures were taken.

In fact, although everything is in service at this time, they have indicated that "some anomaly may be registered at some specific point, precisely, due to what has been described."

Canal Gestión Lanzarote and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote have regretted the inconvenience that this situation may have caused to the users of the service, and appreciates the understanding and cooperation shown by the residents of the island.
