The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has warned of the risk of choking in some Hello Kitty gummies from Japan, which must be withdrawn from the market, and has recommended that people who have this product at home do not consume it.

The alert has been issued following a notification from the health authorities of the Netherlands about this sweet, called 'Apple and konjak Hello Kitty Jelly', from the Sanrio brand, which is marketed in plastic bags containing individual sachets, according to the agency in a statement.

The autonomous communities where these gummies have been initially distributed have been Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Galicia, Madrid and Valencian Community but it is not ruled out that they may have been redistributed to other areas.

The information about the danger of its consumption has already been transferred to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI) so that its withdrawal from marketing channels can be verified.

Furthermore, people who have affected products in their homes are recommended to refrain from consuming them.
