About forty residents of Haría have submitted a letter to the Haría City Council requesting that they "raise their complaints about the continuous cuts in water supply or reduction in flow to the relevant bodies (Canal Gestión, Water Consortium, or Cabildo)".
The citizens explain that for months there have been continuous problems with water in the municipality, "it is almost always in Haría where these problems exist, since in the other municipalities of Lanzarote there seem to be no alterations in the water supply," they point out. In addition, they demand that they be informed of a "daily schedule of supply cuts."
"There is no planning, nor a clear pattern of how and when it will happen," the citizens emphasize. "There is no planning to know how much water needs to be saved, nor to know the supply cut schedules," they add angrily.
What worries the citizens most about the "unacceptable" situation are the consequences of the cuts. "The most serious thing is that it leads to breakdowns of washing machines, dishwashers, and other appliances that need water to function," they add. "Not to mention the most important thing, which is the care of fragile people who are in their homes," they conclude.
