A Cory's shearwater has appeared with a broken wing this Saturday in Famara. Paula, a resident of the maritime town of Teguise, found the seabird behind one of her pots at 7:30 in the morning.
The woman of English nationality lived near a port in her country and was already familiar with rescues of this type of animal. "Every year we had to rescue many seabirds," she told La Voz. First, this neighbor put the animal in a cardboard box with holes and contacted the Wildlife Rescue Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. This resource has attention from Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to take care of wild animals that suffer some type of problem. The telephone number is 696733177.
During the months of October and November, the chicks of Cory's shearwater take their first flights. However, light pollution dazzles these birds and causes them to become disoriented. Seo Birdlife has warned of the importance of turning off the outside light to avoid dazzling these Cory's shearwater chicks.
At the same time, for these cases it has recommended calling 112 to pay attention. "Every year, around this time, thousands of seabirds fall dazzled on our coasts and cities," exclaimed Seo Birdlife.
