A passenger had to be removed from a Binter flight this Friday that departed for Tenerife North from Lanzarote airport. The flight, which was scheduled to depart at 9:50 p.m., had to turn around when it was already on the runway and ready for takeoff due to a woman's nonconformity with the instructions not to change seats until the plane was flying.
Only 22 people were traveling on the plane out of a capacity of 68, so the passenger got up from her seat and asked the flight attendants if she could move to a back seat where a friend was located.
In response to this question, one of the flight attendants explained that she should wait until the plane was flying to be able to change because, in addition, the plane was carrying very little passenger load, so counteracting the weight is important.
Faced with the refusal, the woman was not satisfied and continued to ask the flight attendant to be able to change while the plane was already taxiing on the runway for takeoff. The two flight attendants spoke with her to try to reason with her. It was at that moment when the woman took photos of one of the flight attendants, according to passengers.
The flight attendants asked her to delete the photo that she had even sent through a WhatsApp chat to another person. According to witnesses, both asked her to see the deleted folder to ensure that the woman had deleted the image where one of the flight attendants could be seen. The woman excused herself by saying that she had "only taken a photo of the plane because it was empty and they wouldn't let her change seats."
"I'm not going to allow disrespect, now get off the plane," said one of the flight attendants indignantly. One of the flight attendants called the pilots to inform them of the situation, so they decided to turn around on the runway when the plane was already waiting for instructions from the control tower to take off.
When the plane was parked again, Civil Guard agents and Aena personnel arrived. The flight attendants explained what had happened, to which the passenger argued that she "was nervous because she was a little afraid of flying."
After speaking with the flight attendants, the passenger and one of the pilots, the woman was removed from the plane while some passengers reproached her attitude and told her to "get off the plane once" because of the delay she was causing. Finally, the flight took off approximately half an hour late.
