National Police agents have arrested a 21-year-old man in Arrecife, with no prior police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of injury within the context of domestic violence.
The events occurred on January 2, when the arrested man stabbed his mother's partner with a knife, with whom he lives in a rented room in a house in the capital.
The detainee stated that he took a knife from the room with the intention of defending his mother, after she informed her partner that she was ending the relationship. According to his testimony, the man reacted violently, threatening and lunging at the woman, at which point the son intervened, stabbing her with the knife in the shoulder.
The Family and Woman Care Unit (UFAM) of Arrecife has carried out the investigation, and in collaboration with the Local Scientific Police Brigade, conducted the corresponding technical-police ocular inspection.
Likewise, statements were taken from those involved, several witnesses, and residents of an adjacent room in the dwelling where the events occurred, who affirmed having heard the woman's cries for help and provided assistance to the injured man, who was suffering from significant blood loss.
As a consequence of what happened, the young man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of injury in the context of domestic violence, and furthermore, the UFAM has concurrently initiated proceedings for the events related to gender violenceOnce the police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who decreed as a **precautionary measure the prohibition of approaching and communicating with the victim**
