The foggy days at Tenerife North Airport have forced several flights to be diverted to alternative airports and have also delayed crossings departing from Lanzarote for hours on Friday morning.

Specifically, the flight that was scheduled to depart at 08:25 on Friday morning arrived at the Tenerife airport with a delay of nearly two hours. The same happened with the one that was scheduled to depart at 09:40 on Friday morning, which ended up departing at 11:30 in the morning.

The same has happened in the opposite direction, the flight that was scheduled to land at 13:30 this afternoon at the César Manrique aerodrome will finally do so at 13:55.

Air Traffic Controllers reported via X that the fog problems at the Chicharrero airport were causing "waits and delays" for security reasons, as well as "possible diversions to alternative flights".

As of this afternoon, inter-island flights between Lanzarote and Tenerife North seem to have returned to normal activity, according to updated information from one of the main inter-island airlines, Binter.

In addition, Binter Canarias has also reported that meteorological restrictions continue in Los Rodeos, and that in recent hours they are also affecting El Hierro.
