The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium carried out two interventions this Wednesday in the northern part of the island, both in the municipality of Haría, to assist hikers who were unable to continue their routes.
The first alert came at 12:16 PM, when the CECOES 1-1-2 reported that a man was fatigued and unable to continue on the Camino de los Gracioseros, in Yé. Firefighters located him and helped him descend to the beach, from where he was transported by jet ski by the La Graciosa firefighters to Órzola. There, health services were waiting for him, and they took him to the hospital for evaluation.
Hours later, at 7:47 PM, the Consortium received a new alert: a hiker could not continue her ascent up the Famara cliff, in Guinate, after running out of light and feeling unsafe due to the difficulty of the terrain.
The firefighters managed to locate the woman with the collaboration of a neighbor who knew the area well, who guided them along a safe path to the Mirador de Guinate. The hiker was not injured, although she was very scared at the time of the rescue. The Local Police of Haría also participated in the operation.
