Firefighters had to act to extinguish a fire in a house on Monday afternoon in Arrecife. Due to smoke inhalation, two people had to be transferred to the hospital for respiratory problems in an ambulance of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), as reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium.
The event took place around 18.10 hours in Seguidilla Street. Alerted by the CECOES, the firefighters moved to the place, where they found that there was a fire that had been practically extinguished by the neighbors with powder extinguishers. In the interior of the house were only those who were doing the extinction.
After vacating the house, they were able to verify that the fire was located in a concrete shelf and affected an electrical appliance, VHF films, ornaments, books and some fabric. The rest of the house was affected by the gases and dust from the extinguishers.
Then, they took the objects that were still burning outside to put out the fire with water and opened doors and windows to ventilate the place.
After checking that the electrical installation was working correctly and advising the owner to leave everything open and enter the house as little as possible due to the gases, they finished the service.
Local Police officers also moved to the scene.
