Two bathers in distress were rescued this Tuesday in the Papagayo area, as reported by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES). Both affected individuals sustained minor injuries with abrasions.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when 112 was alerted. Agents from the Civil Guard, Local Police, an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service, and the Emergency Consortium were dispatched to the scene.
Once on site, emergency personnel confirmed that one of the men had been able to get out of the water on his own, and the other had taken refuge in a difficult-to-access cave. Firefighters managed to reach him and rescue him.
The healthcare staff assisted them and transferred them to the Playa Blanca Health Center.
