The Civil Guard of Lanzarote arrested two people on September 17 as alleged perpetrators of 24 burglaries of vehicle interiors and seven attempted burglaries on the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Civil Guard agents have arrested the alleged perpetrators of a series of robberies committed in rental vehicles. The suspects operated mainly in tourist areas, where they took advantage of the temporary absence of visitors to steal valuables from inside the cars, after breaking one of their windows.

The investigations began as a result of the increase in reports of robberies in parking lots frequented by tourists. Faced with this situation, a special surveillance device was established in the affected areas, an operation that allowed the location of the alleged perpetrators on September 17, 2025.

At the time of the arrest, the agents located inside the vehicle in which they were traveling various personal belongings that, after the corresponding checks, were confirmed to have been previously stolen from tourists at different points in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, managing to return most of the stolen items to their rightful owners.

The proceedings, along with the detainees, were placed at the disposal of the Arrecife Duty Court.

Therefore, it is important to remember not to leave valuables, such as cell phones, purses, wallets, cameras, or electronic devices in plain sight inside the car, and if you need to leave objects, store them in the trunk before arriving at the parking lot, without anyone seeing you.

Always check that all doors and windows, including the sunroof, are properly closed. Don't just rely on the remote control; do a manual check if necessary, as frequency jammers can disable remote locking.
