The Civil Guard in Lanzarote has arrested two adults and investigated three minors for their alleged participation in a less serious crime of theft and fraud, for stealing a mobile phone valued at 1,100 euros and several credit cards in the town of Costa Teguise.
The Civil Guard has initiated an investigation following the report of a robbery that occurred in Costa Teguise on October 19, with the complainant stating that while he was in a nightclub in the area, a high-end mobile phone valued at 1,100 euros, along with a wallet containing several credit cards, was stolen from him. The alleged perpetrators of the crime later used one of the stolen cards to make multiple purchases in various establishments in the town.
Therefore, the Investigation Area of the Main Post of Costa Teguise carried out the appropriate investigations and inquiries to locate the alleged perpetrators of the criminal act, gathering police investigations by analyzing the images from the surveillance cameras of the various establishments where the charges had been made with one of the stolen credit cards.
As a result of the investigation carried out, it was possible to identify the alleged perpetrators of the events.
The perpetrators made small purchases in various establishments such as supermarkets, bazaars, cafeterias, among others in the aforementioned town. Because these were purchases of small amounts, they were not asked for the security code of the bank card, thus being able to pay directly with the stolen card.
Finally, between November 2 and November 4, 2024, two of the perpetrators were arrested, and three minors were investigated for their alleged involvement in the events.
The agents managed to identify the suspects after analyzing the security recordings of the establishments where the stolen card was used.
The proceedings have been sent to the Investigating Court on duty in Arrecife, as well as the placing of the detainees at the disposal of the court.
