Three people arrested with a stolen vehicle while driving through Arrecife

A lady, who was traveling in the back, told the agents with signs of nervousness that she was unaware of the robbery and assured that she was in the car because they offered to take her to her place of work, in a hotel on the island.

Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife arrested on Wednesday afternoon three people who were traveling through the capital of Lanzarote in a vehicle that had been stolen in San Bartolomé. The theft had been reported at the Civil Guard barracks in this town, bordering Arrecife.

Agents of the Local Police of Arrecife, on patrol service on the Vía Medular, identified this vehicle (Toyota brand Hilux 4x4 model) when it was circulating on the Vía Medular. When verifying by the license plate that it was the stolen one, they stopped it and set up a device. The police managed to block the vehicle in the vicinity of Doctor Gómez Ulla street, in the capital of Conejera.

The agents identified its occupants, two men and a woman, 40, 32 and 30 years old and natives of Lanzarote. The driver asked the agents the reason for the arrest, and the police responded that that vehicle was listed as stolen, and with a complaint filed in San Bartolomé.

The Local Police of Arrecife has incorporated new systems that allow knowing in real time the situation of the vehicles, and whose tools allow greater coordination and provision of services to the citizens.

After being transferred to the police station, the one who was as co-pilot stated to be the author of the theft, and the lady, who was traveling in the back, with signs of nervousness told the agents that she was unaware of the robbery. That she was in the car because they offered to take her to her place of work, in a hotel on the island.

The proceedings carried out by the agents, classified as a crime, reflect that the ocular inspection of the agents allowed to locate in the trunk of the vehicle a container with gasoline, and a knife.

The agents transferred the three detainees to the police station for their presentation to the court. Finally, the stolen vehicle was returned to its owner, police sources have reported.
