The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías arrested on May 27 three people with initials A.T.F.O., J.J.M.B., and J.P.J., -all with police records and ages between 42 and 36 years old- as alleged perpetrators of an attempted theft of 4,600 kilos of fish from some fish farms in Lanzarote, committed during the early hours of the aforementioned day.

The police action began as a result of the notice from the workers of the same company that manages the marine cages, who after going with their boat to them first thing in the morning observed three people -A.T.F.O., J.J.M.B., and J.P.J.- on one of them, observing at the same time a boat overturned and half-sunk in the water.

Immediately the workers gave notice to the Civil Guard, who moved with the Canal Bocayna patrol boat while other troops did so to the nearest port of the fish farm.

After the castaways were rescued, it was observed how they had allegedly thrown a net to capture fish in one of the cages, however, due to the weight of it, their boat capsized, so; in addition, the fish they were trying to capture got trapped in the nets and ended up dying.
