The Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) has reported a serious traffic accident that occurred this Sunday on the LZ-1 road, at the junction with the town of Mala, where there was a head-on collision between two vehicles. The accident, which took place at around 9:00 p.m., resulted in three women injured with moderate injuries and one trapped in critical condition.

Agents of the Civil Guard and an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) initially went to the scene, later joined by two more units and personnel from the Security and Emergency Consortium.

The vehicles involved were a Dacia Sandero, whose sole occupant, 40 years old, was trapped and in critical condition with severe polytrauma, and a Seat Arona, in which three women aged 36, 29 and 36 were traveling. The driver of the Arona remained conscious inside the car, while the other two occupants were found outside: one of them lying on the road and the other sitting.

Two of them had moderate trauma, while the third suffered a fracture.

The emergency teams proceeded to extricate the driver of the Dacia using cutting and rescue techniques, managing to extract him on a spinal board through the rear of the vehicle. At the same time, one of the occupants of the Seat was also evacuated laterally using a rescue board. The other two injured were treated outside the car, one transferred on a stretcher and the other in an evacuation chair.

The coordination between firefighters, medical personnel and security forces allowed the rescue, medical attention and transfer of the injured to the Molina Orosa hospital to be completed. After the removal of the damaged vehicles, the road was cleaned with the support of the road maintenance service.

CECOES was informed of the completion of the operation, restoring normality on the road after several minutes of intervention.
